Description

These spooky Pizza Skulls are a fun and delicious twist on classic pizza, perfect for Halloween or any festive occasion. Made with refrigerated pizza dough, savory Italian sausage, pepperoni, tangy pizza sauce, and melted mozzarella, these individual skull-shaped pizzas are sure to impress both kids and adults with their playful presentation and tasty flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Dough

  • 1 (13.8-oz) can refrigerated pizza dough

Filling

  • 6 Tbsp pizza sauce
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup cooked and crumbled Italian sausage
  • 24 slices pepperoni, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare pan: Preheat oven to 375ºF. Spray skull cake pan with cooking spray and set aside to prevent sticking.
  2. Shape dough: Unroll pizza dough and press into a 15×10-inch rectangle on a floured surface. Cut the dough into 6 equal strips. Drape each strip into the skull cavities of the cake pan, shaping to fit.
  3. Add toppings: Inside each dough skull cavity, sprinkle a small amount of shredded mozzarella cheese. Then add 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce, 4 slices of chopped pepperoni, and some cooked crumbled Italian sausage. Top with the remaining cheese to cover the fillings.
  4. Seal and bake: Fold the dough over the toppings to enclose them, pressing the seams together to seal each skull. Bake in the preheated oven for 18 to 20 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.

Notes

  • You can substitute sausage with ground beef or turkey if preferred.
  • For extra gooey cheese, add a blend of mozzarella and provolone.
  • If you don’t have a skull cake pan, a muffin tin or mini loaf pan can be used to shape the dough.
  • Cook sausage thoroughly before adding to the pizza skulls to ensure food safety.
  • Let skulls cool for a few minutes before removing from pan to maintain shape.
