Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 2 medium potatoes, peeled and boiled
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (plus more for dusting)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 tablespoon chopped green onions (optional)
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, mash the boiled potatoes until smooth. Add salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and flour. Mix until you get a soft, non-sticky dough consistency.
- Divide and Shape: Divide the dough into 4 equal portions. Flatten each portion into a round disc approximately 1/4 inch thick.
- Stuff with Cheese: Place a few tablespoons of shredded mozzarella cheese in the center of each disc. Fold the edges over to fully seal, forming a dough ball to trap the cheese inside.
- Form Patties: Gently flatten each cheese-filled dough ball into a thick pancake shape without breaking the seal.
- Pan-Fry: Heat vegetable oil in a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Carefully place each bread in the skillet and fry for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve: Remove from the skillet and serve hot. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired for added flavor and color.
Notes
- Substitute mozzarella with cheddar or a cheese blend for varied flavors.
- Ensure edges are sealed tightly to prevent cheese leakage during frying.
- Best served fresh but can be reheated in a pan to regain crispiness.
