Description

This Goat Cheese and Soppressata Pizza is a delightful combination of tangy goat cheese, flavorful soppressata, and gooey mozzarella on a crispy, golden crust. With a hint of oregano and fresh basil, it’s a gourmet pizza perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Base

  • 1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade, about 12-inch)
  • Flour, for dusting

Cheeses

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 oz goat cheese, crumbled

Toppings & Sauce

  • 6 oz soppressata slices
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce or crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
  • Red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it inside the oven now to heat up, which will help achieve a crispy crust.
  2. Roll out the dough: On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness, aiming for about a 12-inch circle.
  3. Transfer the dough: Move the rolled dough onto a pizza peel or a baking sheet dusted with flour or cornmeal to prevent sticking.
  4. Spread the sauce: Evenly spread half a cup of pizza sauce or crushed tomatoes over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges for the crust.
  5. Add mozzarella cheese: Sprinkle one cup of shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce for a melty, creamy base.
  6. Add goat cheese and soppressata: Distribute the crumbled goat cheese and six ounces of soppressata slices evenly on top, adding tang and savory flavor.
  7. Drizzle oil and season: Drizzle one tablespoon of olive oil over the pizza and sprinkle one teaspoon of dried oregano for an aromatic touch.
  8. Bake the pizza: Place the pizza in the preheated oven or on the hot pizza stone and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
  9. Garnish: Remove the pizza from the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves and, if desired, red pepper flakes for a touch of heat.
  10. Slice and serve: Slice your pizza and serve immediately while hot and fresh.

Notes

  • For a crispier crust, preheat a pizza stone to cook the pizza directly on it.
  • You can substitute soppressata with pepperoni or salami if preferred.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes for desired spice level or omit for no heat.
  • Fresh herbs like basil add great aroma and flavor; add them just before serving to keep their color and freshness.
