Ingredients
Scale
Dough and Sausage
- 1 (8-count) tube refrigerated crescent rolls
- 1 (4-count) tube refrigerated crescent rolls
- 1 (14-oz) package Lit’l Smokies
- ¼ cup Dijon mustard
Glaze
- ½ cup butter
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
Instructions
- Preheat oven and prepare pan: Preheat your oven to 375ºF (190ºC). Lightly spray a 9×13-inch baking pan with cooking spray to prevent sticking and set it aside.
- Prepare crescent roll triangles: Unroll both cans of refrigerated crescent rolls and separate them into 12 triangles each. Spread a heaping teaspoon of Dijon mustard evenly on each triangle. Then, cut each triangle lengthwise into 3 narrow triangles, creating smaller pieces perfect for wrapping.
- Wrap sausages: Place one Lit’l Smokie sausage on the wide side of each narrow triangle. Roll the dough up around the sausage carefully and place each wrapped sausage seam-side down in the prepared baking pan.
- Make glaze: In a small saucepan, combine the butter, brown sugar, 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and poppy seeds. Bring the mixture to a boil to blend all flavors and create a smooth glaze.
- Apply glaze and bake: Pour the hot glaze evenly over the pigs in a blanket in the pan. Bake uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the crescent rolls turn golden brown and the glaze bubbles slightly. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute the Lit’l Smokies with any mini cocktail sausages of your choice.
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the glaze mixture.
- Ensure the glaze is boiling before pouring over the dough for best adhesion and flavor.
- Serve warm for best taste and texture.
- Leftover pigs in a blanket can be reheated in a 350ºF oven for 10 minutes.
