Description

This Easy Chicken Tetrazzini is a creamy, comforting casserole featuring tender shredded chicken, linguine pasta, and a rich sauce made with sour cream and cream of mushroom soup. Baked to perfection with melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, this classic American pasta dish is perfect for family dinners and gatherings, delivering warm, cheesy goodness in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Pasta

  • 12 oz. Linguine pasta

Sauce and Seasoning

  • 1/2 cup Butter, melted
  • 20 oz. Cream of mushroom soup
  • 2 cups Sour cream
  • 1/2 cup Chicken broth
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 1/4 cup Parsley, freshly chopped, plus more for garnish

Chicken

  • 4 cups Chicken, cooked and shredded

Cheese

  • 2 cups Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

Instructions

  1. Cook Pasta: Cook linguine according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare Oven and Dish: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish and set it aside to prepare the casserole.
  3. Make Sauce: In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, chicken broth, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
  4. Combine Ingredients: Add the freshly chopped parsley, cooked shredded chicken, and the cooked linguine pasta to the sauce mixture. Mix everything thoroughly to evenly coat the pasta and chicken with the sauce.
  5. Assemble Casserole: Transfer the combined mixture into the prepared casserole dish, spreading it out evenly.
  6. Add Cheese Topping: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the top of the casserole.
  7. Bake Covered: Cover the casserole dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. This allows the dish to heat through and the flavors to meld.
  8. Bake Uncovered: Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese on top is bubbly and lightly golden.
  9. Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and garnish with additional fresh parsley for color and freshness. Serve warm and enjoy the creamy, cheesy chicken tetrazzini.

Notes

  • Cook pasta just until al dente to prevent it from becoming mushy after baking.
  • Shredded rotisserie chicken can be used for convenience and added flavor.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • For a lighter version, substitute sour cream with Greek yogurt and use reduced-fat cheeses.
  • You can add mushrooms or peas to the sauce for extra vegetables.
