Ingredients
Scale
Sausage Layer
- 1 (16-oz) roll of breakfast sausage
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Egg Mixture
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup small curd cottage cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt (or to taste)
- ¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper (or to taste)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 325ºF and spray a 9×9-inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Cook Sausage: Cook the breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat until no longer pink, crumbling it as it cooks. Drain excess grease and evenly spread the cooked sausage in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the sausage layer.
- Prepare Egg Mixture: In a food processor bowl, combine the eggs, sour cream, small curd cottage cheese, grated Parmesan, flour, salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Blend until the mixture is smooth and well incorporated.
- Assemble Quiche: Pour the smooth egg and cheese mixture evenly over the sausage and cheddar cheese in the baking dish.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 50 to 60 minutes, or until the quiche is fully set and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the quiche from the oven and allow it to cool for 5 to 10 minutes to set further before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Ensure sausage is fully cooked and drained of excess fat to avoid a greasy quiche.
- The flour helps to bind the egg mixture and provide structure without a crust.
- Allowing the quiche to cool slightly before serving helps it slice more cleanly.
- This quiche is naturally gluten-free if you use gluten-free flour instead of all-purpose flour.
- Variations can include adding veggies such as spinach or bell peppers if desired.
